Restorative Practice 101

What are the elements of restorative practice? This is an ideal workshop for small to large organizations or groups that would like to implement practices into their environments.

Participants will explore the foundations of restorative practices by learning how to recognize core principles, differentiate between punitive and restorative approaches to discipline, and apply interventions rooted in the social discipline window. Through guided reflection and practical exercises, they’ll also learn how to create affective statements that support open, respectful communication. The experience is designed to be thoughtful and heart-centered—encouraging connection, self-awareness, and transformation as part of a deeper commitment to equity, integrity, and relational healing

Duration: To be determined based on the group’s needs.

Community Building Circles

Facilitated by Maria Lourdes, participants are guided through an experiential circle to deepen their understanding of the process. This firsthand experience prepares them to later lead their own community building circles, grounded in the principles of restorative practice. Each circle is shaped around meaningful topics and activities that support authentic connection, mutual respect, and the cultivation of harmonious relationships.

While not mandatory, completing Restorative Practice 101 beforehand is strongly encouraged to support a deeper understanding of the material.

Duration: 1 to 2 hours depending on the group’s needs.

The Power of Inclusive Process: Shared Decisions, Shared Trust

This session explores how to engage others in decision-making through inclusive, transparent, and respectful practices. Participants will learn when and how to apply a thoughtful process that values open communication, shared leadership, and relational trust. The experience emphasizes how decisions are not only made, but also how they are received—highlighting the importance of clarity, collaboration, and connection. By the end, participants will be able to identify appropriate situations for applying these principles and follow the steps to implement them effectively.

Duration: To be determined based on the group’s needs.

Impromptu Restorative Conversations

This session empowers participants to confidently lead impromptu restorative conversations in moments of conflict or harm. Using key restorative questions, participants will learn how to guide immediate, meaningful dialogue that helps individuals process the incident, repair trust, and rebuild connection. These conversations are designed to support resolution while strengthening relationships in real time.

Holding Space for Healing and Restoring Together

Designed for situations impacting individuals, group or the broader community, this session focuses on creating safe, respectful spaces where everyone affected can share, listen, and move toward collective understanding. Participants will learn how to structure these circles with care, using restorative practices to support healing, accountability, and the restoration of trust and connection.

Conferences for Healing and Accountability: Leading with Integrity, Trust and Support

This session prepares participants to plan and facilitate restorative conferences—a structured process designed to address incidents involving medium to high levels of harm. Held outside the immediate environment where the harm occurred, these conferences are conducted in a circle format and guided by clear restorative principles. An impartial facilitator leads the process, creating a safe space for those directly involved as well as other community stakeholders such as family members, educators, or support staff. Participants will explore key elements of the process including pre-conferencing, facilitation, follow-up, and appropriate adaptations, while also learning when a restorative conference may or may not be appropriate.
